AWSA IAC Seeks Officials For 2023 Events - Deadline Extended to Nov. 8

On or after Dec. 15, 2022, the AWSA International Activities Committee (IAC) will nominate officials for the 2023 international events listed below. To be considered for any of the listed events, you MUST COMPLETE AND RETURN THIS FORM (EMAIL IS PREFERRED) NOT LATER THAN Nov. 8, 2022. The IAC will make its recommended nominations to the AWSA Board, which will finalize the nominations. All persons having responded to this notice will be informed of the Board’s final nominations. Note that for those events which are listed on a “tbd” basis, we will resolicit interest once the dates and/or locations have been announced.
FOR PAN AM JUDGES, REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL APPLICABLE RE-TESTING REQUIREMENTS. To get the process started, or to request to be tested for a new Pan Am Judge’s rating, please complete the information in the following link:

For all World Championships, the Chief Judge, Assistant Chief Judge, the Scorers, the Homologator/TC and the Drivers will be selected as set forth in IWWF Rule 14.04. All Judges must hold a 3-event Pan Am rating. There is a three-step nomination and selection process:
- -AWSA will inform the Pan American Confederation of its nominees for these positions.
- -The Pan American Confederation will then determine who is to be finally nominated for each of these positions from among the nominees submitted by all Pan American Confederation countries.
- -IWWF will then fill these positions from among the international confederation nominees as set forth in IWWF Rule 14.04.
- -Safety positions are filled as set forth in IWWF Rule 14.17.
For the World Open Championships (appointed judges), U21 World Championships, Pan Am Games, and Pan American 35+ Championships, there is a two-step nomination and selection process. All Judges must hold a 3-event Pan Am rating.
- -Officials for the Pan Am Games must also meet any requirements of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
- -AWSA will inform the Pan American Confederation of its nominees for these positions.
- -The Pan American Confederation will fill all tournament positions from among the nominees submitted by all Pan American Confederation countries.
For the Junior U.S. Open, officials and drivers are NOT chosen by the IAC; Those officials are selected by the AWSA President in consultation with the LOC (we send this information along to the AWSA President).
The IAC follows a progressive selection process for choosing officials as set forth below. An official needs to participate in at least one event in each category before seeking a nomination to events in the next category.
Category A: Junior U.S. Open, Can Am Challenge, U.S. Nationals (Chief, AC, Appt. Official)
Category B: U17 Worlds, 35+ Worlds, U21 Worlds, Pan Am Championships
Category C: Elite Worlds, Pan Am Games, World Games
As a part of the selection process, you need to provide your regional IAC members with information about your work in the last five years at the (1) regionals, (2) nationals, (3) 3-event record tournaments, (4) cash prize events and (5) any other helpful info with the years of participation provided (International tournaments, University Worlds, etc.). Please contact your AWSA IAC regional representative to provide this information at the same time you submit this form.
