Mad City, Ski Sprites, Badwater Win State Titles

In a runaway tournament for Mad City and Rock Aqua Jays, only 24.5 points separated the two teams with Mad City taking the top spot for the 2nd year in a row in division 1 of the Wisconsin Show Ski Tournament.  Mad City’s Big Sky Ranch also earned the team the highest scoring ballet line which was also the highest scoring act of division 1, highest scoring sound and announcing crew, and highest scoring tow boat driving.  Rock Aqua Jays earned highest scoring dock and equipment, pick-up boat, doubles, pyramid, jump, swivel, showmanship, and production.  Aquanuts took home 3rd place and the highest scoring barefoot award. 

Division 2’s top two teams had an even closer point spread with Ski Sprites earning the top spot by just over 15 points.  Ski Sprites also took home highest scoring pick-up boat crew, ballet, barefoot (highest scoring act), and showmanship.  Host team Aqua Skiers had the close 2nd place finish with highest scores in dock and equipment, tow boat driving, and swivel.  Shawano Ski Sharks took home 3rd place and highest scoring pyramid, and Water Walkers took home highest scoring sound and announcing, production, and ballet.  Chain Skimmers earned highest scoring jump.

Badwater Ski-Ters took home 1st place in Division 3 by 18 points.  Twin Bridge earned highest scoring dock and equipment, doubles, swivel, and showmanship.  Highest scoring pick-up boat, tow boat, and sound went to Waterboard Warriors, and Chain Skiers took home highest scoring jump (highest scoring act) and production.  Kwahamots earned highest scoring ballet and barefoot, and River City earned highest scoring pyramid. 

Josie Smerchek (Crivitz Ski Cats) earned 1st place in open swivel.  Kim Stoner and Cory Krivitz (Badgerland) took home their 11th WI State doubles title and sisters Lexie and Brooke Gunderson (Aquanuts) won open swivel pairs.  Shermalot’s jump team took 1st and their top female skier Sarah Fiedorowicz took 1st in women’s freestyle jump with her two ski flip and gainer.  For the 3rd year in a row, Cale Ducane (Crivitz Ski Cats) earned the top spot for men’s open freestyle. 

At the Division 2 qualifier, Ava Jakubowski (Muskego Waterbugs), Lexi Galang (Water Walkers), and Sarah Fiedorowicz (Shermalot) took home 1st place in swivel 180, 360, and open respectively.  Galang took the top spot for women’s freestyle jump and with her doubles partner Joe Nagrant (Water Walkers) for open doubles.  Sisters Abby and Clare LaFave (Ski Sprites) took 1st in swivel pairs Shawano’s Carsten McHugh took home 1st in men’s freestyle jump. 

A very special congratulations Janie Dibble Woods/Michelle Cook Outstanding Female Skier winners Jo (Waterboard Warriors), Faith Dix (Aqua Skiers), and Gabbie Taschwer (Mad City).  Skip Gilkerson Showmanship winners were Twin Bridge, Shawano Ski Sharks Announcers Dave Passehl and Kate Berends, and Mad City’s announcing team. 

Jack Lukes Outstanding Male Skier winners were Ben Walker (Ski Sprites), and Carter Boerman (Aquanuts)

 

WI State Results
