35+ Pan Am Results

The USA had a strong representation at this years 35+ Pan American Waterski Championships. From October 1st - 5th, 38 team USA athletes, and many more individuals representing the USA, made their way to Pickos Ski School in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida to compete against 5 other countries. There was a ton of great skiing thrown down by USA athletes so we wanted to cover some of the highlights from each division in the tournament. 

 

Team USA took the gold Overall team classification medal in every age division in the tournament! 

 

Americans held strong performances across all three events: 

35+ women's divisiondominated the podiums, taking first, second, and third in every event.

  •  Slalom: The podium was full of Americans. Erin Peckham earned gold with a score of 1/2 a buoy at 11.25m (38off). Renee Jaquess earned silver with a score of 3.5 at 13m (32off), and Bridget Albertson brought home the bronze with a score of 2.5 buoys at 14.25m (28off).
  • Trick: Jazmine Gagner earned gold with a total of 3,940 points. Renee Jaquess brought the silver medal home with a score of 1,910 points, and Bridget Albertson earned a bronze with a score of 900 points.
  • Jump: Renee Jaquess sent it for the gold medal with a distance of 27.4m (90ft) jump, bringing in 1000 team points. Sara Velander earned the silver with a distance of 25.5m (84ft), and Jazmine Gagner brought home the bronze with a score of 24.4m (80ft).
  • 35+ Overall: Renee Jaquess won the gold medal, Jazmine Gagner earned the silver medal, and Bridget Ablertson won the bronze medal.

35+ Men's 

  • Slalom: Jason Peckham earned the gold medal with a score of 2 at 10.25m (41off). 
  • Trick: Kevin Jack earned a gold medal with a score of 5,830 points, which was a little lower than his first round score of 7,280.
  • Jump: USA dominated earning every spot on the podium. Brian Kinney won gold with a distance of 54.8m (180ft), Brian Ansel earned a silver medal with a distance of 48.6m (159ft), and Kevin Jack brought home the bronze with a distance of 30.8m (101ft). 
  • Overall: Brian Kinney earned gold, Kevin Jack earned silver, and Brian Ansel earned bronze. 

45+ Women's:

Another USA dominated division!

  • Slalom: Brandy Nagle earned the gold with a score of 4 buoys at 12m (35off), Jennifer Wood earned the silver with a score of 3 buoys at 12m (35off), and Kelli Kerns earned the bronze with a score of 2.5 buoys at 13m (32off).
  • Trick: Jill Smith earned the gold with a score of 3,210 points, Jennifer Wood earned the silver with a score of 3,090 points, and Brandy Nagle earned bronze with a score of 1,650 points.
  • Jump: Jennifer Wood earned gold with a distance of 24.3m (80ft), Kyle Petit earned silver with a distance of 15.1m (50ft), and Nicole Weber Barker earned bronze with a distance of 8.3m (27ft).
  • Overall: Jennifer Wood took the gold, and Kyle Petit earned the silver.

45+ Men's: 

  • Slalom: Jeff Surdej earned a silver medal with a score at 2.5 buoys at 11.25m (38off) and getting into the 10.75m (39off) line length in round 1. 
  • Tricks: Benjamin Lohr took the gold with a score of 6,280 points, Jeff Surdej earned silver with a score of 2,870 points, and Jason Weber earned bronze with a score of 2,140 points.  
  • Jump: Chris Eller took gold with a distance of 39.8m (131ft), which was a little shorter than his 43.4m (142ft) jump in round 1. Mark Friese took silver with a distance of 29.0m (95ft). 
  • Overall: Jeff Surdej took the gold medal, and Chris Eller took the silver. 

55 + Women's

  • Slalom: Jane Greenwood earned gold with a score of 5 buoys at 13m (32off), and Tristina Lindsey earned silver with a score of 1 buoy at 13m (32off). 
  • Trick: Sally Montavon won gold with a score of 4,930 points, and Jane Greenwood took silver with a score of 3,350 points. 
  • Jump: Tristina Lindsey took gold with a distance of 21.3m (70ft), Sandee Kovacs brought the silver with a distance of 12.4m (41ft). 
  • Overall: Tristina took the gold medal, and Sandee took the silver. 

55+ Men's

  • Slalom: Greg Badal took silver with a score of 1.5 buoys at 10.75m (39off), and Michael Robinson took bronze with a score of 2.5 buoys at 11.25m (38off). 
  • Trick: Marc Bedsole took gold with a score of 5,250 Points, Darren Janzig took silver with a score of 2,400 points, and Mitch Grau took bronze with a score of 2,370 points. 
  • Jump: Hutch Haines earned gold with a distance of 45.7m (150ft), Mitch Grau took silver with a distance of 41.9m (137ft), and Jeff Lindsey earned bronze with a distance of 25.1m (82ft). 
  • Overall: Mitch Grau earned gold, and Jeff Lindsey earned silver. 

65+ Women's: 

  • Slalom: Carol Brooks and Janie Fausold TIED for first with a score of 2 buoys at 12m (35off) then going into a run off where Carol took the gold and Janie took the silver. 
  • Tricks: Beth Tullio earned gold with a score of 2,320 points, Carol Brooks won silver with a score of 1,820 points, and Janie Fausold took bronze with a score of 1,110 points. 
  • Overall: Janie Fausold took gold.

65+ Men's

  • Slalom: Mark Brandt took gold beating 13 other skiers with a score of 1 buoy at 10.25m (41off). 
  • Trick: Alfred Sanfanandre earned gold with a score of 2,410 points, and Eric Lee silver with a score of 1,840. 
  • Jump: Amador Ramirez earned gold with a distance of 21.6m (71ft), Eric Lee took bronze with a distance of 7.8m (26ft). 
  • Overall: Amador Ramirez won the Gold. 

70+ Women's

  • Slalom: Leza Harrison took gold with a score of 1/2 buoy at 12m (35off), Sandra Cummings took silver with a score of 5 buoys at 13m (32off), and Shann Mills took bronze with a score of 5 buoys at 14.42m (28off). 
  • Trick & Overall: Leza Harrison took gold with a score of 2,100 points, and Sandra Cummings took silver with a score of 1,80 points. 

70+ Men's 

  • Slalom: Ted Mccolley won gold with a score of 4.5 buoys at 11.25m (38off), Jack Mills took silver with a score of 1.5 buoys at 11.25m (38off), and Louis Alcamo took bronze with a score of 3.5 buoys at 12m (35off). 
  • Trick: John Able took silver with a score of 1,160 points and Joe Blair took bronze with a score of 940 points. 
  • Jump: John Able took gold beating team canada with a distance of 24.0m (79ft). 
  • Overall: John Able took silver. 

75+ Women's

  • Brenda Cavenaugh had a clean sweep and brough home the gold in all three events and in the overall category!

75+ Men's

  • Slalom: Dennis Longo earned the gold medal with a score of 4.5 buoys at 13m (32off). 
  • Trick: Daniel Morea won the gold medal with a score of 2,020 points, Stephen Nelson earned the silver with a score of 1,360 points, and Dennis Longo earned bronze with a score of 990 points. 
  • Jump: Dennis Longo earned the gold with a distance of 12.3m (40ft).
  • Overall: Dennis Longo earned the gold medal. 

80+ Men's

  • Slalom: Skip Dunlap earned the gold with a score of 2.5 buoys at 14.25m (28off), Errol Bryant earned silver with a score of 1 buoy at 14.25m (28off), and Lester Bender earned bronze with a score of 2 buoys at 49kph.
  • Trick: Errol Bryant earned the gold with a score of 470 points. 
  • Overall: Errol Bryant brought home the gold medal.
