Four U.S. Teams Win Gold At IWWF Pan Am Senior Championships

Jane Greenwood won gold medals in 45+ tricks, jumping and overall, and earned the bronze in slalom.
Fifteen U.S. Senior Pan American Championships Water Ski Team members combined to win 55 medals, including 26 gold, at the 2021 IWWF Pan American Senior Water Ski Championships, Oct. 28-31, at Boca Laguna in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. All four – 35+, 45+, 55+ and 65+ – U.S. teams competing at the biennial event won overall team gold medals.
The U.S. 35+ team, the only federation competing in the division, won the overall team gold medal, scoring 8,511.19 points.
Members of the U.S. 35+ team were: Brett Mommer (Dike, Iowa), John Mommer (Eagle Lake, Fla.), Alvin Neff (Rogers, Ark.), Kyle Petit (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), Stephanie Stange (Sherman, Texas) and Brandon Waters (Lady Lake, Fla.). Brett Mommer earned silver medals in men’s tricks (890 points) and overall (2,390.09 points) and the bronze in jumping (135 feet); John Mommer won gold medals in men’s tricks (1,240 points) and overall (3,000 points), and earned the silver in jumping (168 feet) and the bronze in slalom; Neff earned bronze medals in men’s tricks (860 points) and overall (1,508.36 points); Petit won gold medals in women’s tricks (1,420 points), jumping (43 feet) and overall (3,000 points), and earned the silver in slalom (1 buoy at 15 feet off); Stange won the gold medal in women’s slalom (2 buoys at 35 feet off); and Waters won the gold medal in men’s jumping (173 feet).
The U.S. 45+ team won the overall team gold medal, scoring 5,532.47 points. Canada earned the silver (3,765.38 points) and Mexico earned the bronze (2,578.19 points) in the five-team field.
Members of the U.S. 45+ team were: Marc Bedsole (Orlando, Fla.), Jim Brooks (Canyon Lake, Calif.), Patricia Burt (Greenacres, Fla.) and Jane Greenwood (Little Rock, Ark.). Burt won the gold medal in women’s slalom (3 buoys at 35 feet off); Greenwood won gold medals in tricks (2,430 points), jumping (111 feet) and overall (3,000 points), and earned the bronze in slalom (3-1/2 buoys 28 feet off); and Bedsole won the gold medal in men’s tricks (4,100 points).
The U.S. 55+ team won the overall team gold medal, scoring 8,290.66 points. Canada earned the silver (5,440.59 points) and Chile earned the bronze (2,375.38 points) in the five-team field.
Members of the U.S. 55+ team were: Carol Brooks (Canyon Lake, Calif.), Mitch Grau (Carrollton, Texas), Juli Kienbaum (Liberty Lake, Wash.), Jeff Lindsey (Martindale, Texas), Tina Lindsey (Martindale, Texas) and Stephen Miller (Marysville, Wash.). Brooks won the gold medal in women’s slalom (2 buoys at 35 feet off) and earned the silver in tricks (1,730 points); Grau won gold medals in men’s jumping (133 feet) and overall (2,940.74 points), and earned the silver in tricks (2,570 points); Jeff Lindsey earned the silver medal in men’s overall (2,720.64 points) and the bronze in jumping (112 feet); Tina Lindsey won gold medals in women’s tricks (2,840 points), jumping (85 feet) and overall (3,000 points), and earned the silver in slalom (2 buoys at 32 feet off); Kienbaum earned the bronze medal in women’s tricks (500 points) and the silver in jumping (42 feet) and overall (1,357.37 points); and Miller earned the bronze in men’s overall (2,243.38 points).
The U.S. 65+ team, the only federation competing in the division, won the overall team gold medal, scoring 8,527.35 points.
Members of the 65+ team were: John Able (Houston, Texas), Paul Armour (Plano, Texas), Janie Fausold (Pleasant Grove, Calif.), Janet Madden (Homer Glen, Ill.), Jack Mills (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Richelle Muhlitner (Rio Linda, Calif.). Fausold swept gold medals in women’s slalom (1 buoy at 35 feet off), tricks (2,860 points), jumping (54 feet) and overall (3,000 points); Mills won the gold medal in men’s slalom (3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off); Armour won gold medals in men’s tricks (1,420 points), jumping (122 feet) and overall (3,000 points), and earned the silver in slalom (4 buoys at 35 feet off); Able earned silver medals in men’s tricks (1,030 points), jumping (37 feet) and overall (1,639.87 points) and the bronze in slalom (1 buoy at line length); Muhlitner earned bronze medals in women’s slalom (1/2 buoy at 28 feet off) and tricks (330 points); and Madden earned silver medals in women’s slalom (3-1/2 buoys at line length), tricks (1,550 points), jumping (47 feet) and overall (2,171.32 points).
The teams were selected by the 35+ Sub Committee of the American Water Ski Association’s International Activities Committee.
