The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) World Barefoot Council has released its 2026 global participation and competition report, highlighting strong activity in the 2025 season while identifying key opportunities for future growth.
According to the February 2026 rankings, 348 athletes from 14 countries are currently ranked worldwide, with 67 sanctioned competitions conducted across three confederations in 2025 — averaging more than one event per week. Oceania leads global participation and event hosting, while Pan Am and Europe continue to demonstrate steady engagement and competitive depth.
Looking ahead, the global barefoot community now turns its focus to the 2026 IWWF Open, U23 and Junior World Barefoot Water Ski Championships, scheduled for October 17–24, 2026 in Auburndale. Hosted by USA Water Ski & Wake Sports and the Southern Region Barefoot Club, the event will welcome the world’s top Open, Under 23, and Junior athletes to Central Florida’s renowned water ski venue at Champions Lake.
With a committed global athlete base, consistent competition opportunities, and a clear vision for growth, IWWF Barefoot enters 2026 positioned to strengthen international development while delivering a premier World Championship experience.
