Krueger Wins Men's Jump At Malibu Open; Jaquess Sets Pending World Record

Freddy Krueger won the men's jump title at the 2023 Malibu Open, Sept. 15-16, at Lymanland in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Krueger soared 233 feet to take the title over Great Britain's Joel Poland (227 feet).

In other events, Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) set a pending women’s world slalom record of 5 buoys at 41 feet off on Friday in the preliminary round. If approved by the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s Tournament Council, the score will surpass Jaquess’ current world record of 4-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off set at the same site in July 2019.

In the women's slalom finals on Saturday, it was Canada's Jaimee Bull winning the title, scoring 1/2 buoy at 41 feet off. Jaquess finished second with a score of 3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off.

In men's slalom, Italy's Thomas Degasperi won the title, scoring 4 buoys at 41 feet off.

Hanna Straltsova (IWWF) won women's jump with a distance of 192 feet. Martin Kolman of the Czech Republic won men's tricks, scoring 11,760 points.
