Five U.S. Athletes Win Titles At Junior Canadian Open

Five U.S. water ski athletes won titles in respective events at the 2023 Junior Canadian Water Ski Open, July 8-9, at Shalom Ski Park in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The two-round, world-record capability event featured junior men and junior women (ages 17 to 21) and boys and girls divisions (ages 16 and under).

U.S. athletes winning titles were: Kendra Nathan (Canyon Lake, Calif.), U21 women’s slalom (4 buoys at 35 feet off), tricks (4,980 points) and overall (2,724.58 points); Vittorio Bloyer (Vail, Colo.), U17 boys’ tricks (3,880 points); Gage Kacprowicz (San Antonio, Texas), U17 boys’ jump (166 feet) and overall (2,866.67 points); Chase Sparks (Dallas, Ga.), U17 boys’ slalom (3 buoys at 38 feet off); and Solie Stenger (Gettysburg, Pa.), U17 girls’ slalom (3 buoys at 35 feet off).

Other champions were: Canada’s Evan Kraus, U21 men’s slalom (3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off); Canada’s Sean Kraus, U21 men’s tricks (8,210 points); Canada’s Carter Lucas, U21 men’s jump (180 feet); Canada’s Jacob Chambers, U21 men’s overall (2,713.67 points); Canada’s Nellie Allard, U21 women’s jump (131 feet); Canada’s Megan Pelkey, U17 girls’ tricks (6,470 points) and overall (2,911.02 points); and Canada’s Kate Pinsonneault, U17 girls’ jump (120 feet).
