Jaquess, Smith Win Titles At California Water Ski Pro Am

Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.) won respective slalom titles at the 21st California Water Ski Pro Am, presented by Nautique, Aug. 26-27, at Shortline Lake in Elk Grove, Calif.

Smith won men’s slalom, defeating Great Britain’s Frederick Winter in the head-to-head final, scoring 3 buoys at 41 feet off to Winter’s 2-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off. Jaquess won women’s slalom, defeating Canada’s Jaimee Bull in the head-to-head final, scoring ½ buoy at 41 feet off to Bull’s 5 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off.

Canada’s Ryan Dodd won men’s jump, soaring 234 feet. Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.) placed second (233 feet). Hanna Straltsova (IWWF) won women’s jump with a distance of 188 feet.
