Mary Morgan Howell won the Pro Women's division at the inaugural Wake Sports Festival and earned a spot on the 2023 U.S. Pan American Games Water ski & Wakeboard Team.
U.S. wakeboard athletes Mary Morgan Howell (Dothan, Ala.) and Daniel Johnson (Statesville, N.C.) won the Pro Women and Pro Men divisions, respectively, in the Pan American Games Team Trials at the inaugural Wake Sports Festival, April 14-15, at the new Championship Water Ski Lake at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale, Fla.
The Pan American Games Team Trials included professional riders competing for the right to represent the United States at the XIX Pan American Games, Oct. 20-25, in Santiago, Chile. The top-scoring Pro Men and Pro Women riders earned the two wakeboarding spots on the team. The four water ski athletes to compete on the team will be selected later this summer.
