U.S. Wakeboard Team Wins Gold Medal At IWWF Pan Am Championships

The U.S. Wakeboard Team won the overall team gold medal and seven U.S. wakeboard athletes won medals, including five gold, in respective divisions at the IWWF Pan American Wakeboard Championships, Nov. 12-13, at Club Ski Del Polo in El Marques, Queretaro, Mexico.
Members of the U.S. Wakeboard Team were: Vivienne Davidson (Westlake, Texas), Ryder Dillon (Noblesville, Ind.), Hudson Gentry (Hickory, N.C.), Cody Hunnicutt (Orlando, Fla.), Chad Lowe (Sebastopol, Calif.), Taylor McCullough (Centralia, Ill.), Jake Pelot (Orlando, Fla.), Avery Ruegsegger (Maple Grove, Minn.), Victor Sanchez (Houston, Texas) and Kitt Smith (Orlando, Fla.).
The U.S. Wakeboard Team tallied 685 points in winning the gold medal. Argentina earned the silver (585 points) and Mexico earned the bronze (510 points). Colombia (480 points), Brazil (220 points) and Chile (80 points) rounded out the top-six placements.
Divisions of competition were U14 Boys/Girls, Junior (U18) Men/Women, Masters (Over 30) Men/Women, Veteran (Over 40) Men/Women and Open Men/Women. Athletes were scored on execution, intensity and composition.
Smith won the gold medal in U14 Girls (70.00 points); Gentry won the gold medal in U14 Boys (80.00 points) and Dillon earned the bronze (45.00 points); Ruegsegger won the gold medal in Junior Women (70.00 points); Hunnicutt won the gold medal in Junior Men (80.00 points); Pelot won the gold medal in Open Men (81.44 points); and Lowe earned the bronze medal in Veteran Men (54.11 points).
