2021 Moomba Masters Canceled
by USA Water Ski & Wake Sports
Organizers announced on Thursday that the 2021 Moomba Masters International Invitational, presented by Nautique, has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 61st annual event along with the Junior Moomba Masters were scheduled for March on the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia.
The tournament is traditionally well-attended by the world’s top water ski and wakeboard athletes and features the sport’s largest fan attendance.
Reduced crowd numbers and a mandatory quarantine upon arrival for the athletes led to the decision to cancel the tournament for only the second time (2006 Commonwealth Games) in its history.
Moomba did go ahead last year and was one of the sport’s last major events to proceed before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold.
