Eight U.S. Athletes Win Titles At 23rd Junior U.S. Open
Eight U.S. water ski athletes won titles in respective events at the 23rd Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships, June 24-25, at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. The two-round, world-record capability event featured junior men and junior women (ages 17 to 21) and boys and girls divisions (ages 16 and under). U.S. athletes winning titles were: Connor Pesek (Buda, Texas), Junior Boys’ slalom (1 buoy at 38 feet off); Gage Kacprowicz (San Antonio, Texas), Junior Boys’ tricks (7,210 points) and overall (2,814.5 points); Emma Davis (Milford, Va.), Junior Girls’ slalom (2 buoys at 35 feet off), tricks (4,100 points) and overall (2,769.5); Chase Sparks (Dallas, Ga.), Junior Boys’ jump (177 feet); Camryn Waters (Groveland, Fla.), Junior Girls’ jump (115 feet); Blaze Grubbs (Rio Linda, Calif.), Junior Men’s slalom (3-1/2 buoys at 38 feet off), tricks (9,370 points) and overall (3,000.0 points); Sophia Janzig (Center City, Minn.), Junior Women’s slalom (5 buoys at 32 feet off) and tricks (4,890 points); and Jonathan Leutz (Jacksonville, Ill.), Junior Men’s jump (207 feet). The field of competitors for the 23rd Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships has been announced, effective May 23, 2023. The Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships will be held June 24-25, 2023, at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. The two-round, world-record capability event will feature Junior Men/Junior Women (ages 17 to 21) and Boys/Girls (ages 16 and under) divisions.
