U.S. Seeks Riders For Wakeboard Worlds

USA Wakeboard, with assistance from USA Water Ski, is seeking athletes wishing to compete in the IWWF Wakeboard World Championships, scheduled for Oct. 27-31 in Cancun, Mexico. The information bulletin can be found by clicking here (PDF). All riders are welcome to attend and compete.

Cable Wakeboard Loses Out On 2020 Bid

Baseball and softball, karate, squash, bowling, roller sports, climbing, surfing and wushu are the eight sports nominated for the next stage of the application process to be added to the sports program for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, it has been confirmed by the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation. Cable wakeboarding did not make the cut.

Gators Win Collegiate Wakeboard Nationals

The University of Florida wakeboard team won the national title at the 15th Collegiate Wakeboard National Championships, May 29-31, at Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area in Benton, La. It is the Gators' first national wakeboard title since winning back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009. The Gators tallied 645 points in winning over runner-up and 2014 champion, Arizona State (485 points), and third-place Oklahoma State (353 points). Thirteen teams competed in the event.

Powers Wins Pan Am Wakeboard Title

U.S. wakeboard rider Daniel Powers (Orlando, Fla.) won the Open Men title on Sunday at the 2015 Pan American Wakeboard Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Powers scored 84.61 points to win the gold medal over fellow U.S. rider Noah Flegel (Lighthouse Point, Fla.), who scored 84.11 points in earning the silver medal. With the victory, Powers earned a spot as the wakeboard athlete on the 2015 U.S. Pan American Games Water Ski Team. The XVII Pan American Games will be held July 20-23 in Toronto.
