2016 USA Water Ski Show Team Selected

The National Show Ski Association, a sport discipline organization of USA Water Ski, has announced the athletes who will comprise the 2016 USA Water Ski Show Team at the 3rd annual IWWF World Show Ski Tournament, Sept. 9-11, 2016, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

Aquanuts Win D1 Show Ski Nationals

The Aquanuts won the club's first national title since 1984.Aquanut Water Shows Inc., (Twin Lakes, Wis.) won the national team title at the 41st Indmar Marine Engines Division 1 Show Ski National Championships, presented by Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing, Aug. 7-9, on the Rock River at Shorewood Park in Loves Park, Ill. The Aquanuts, which placed third in 2014, tallied 1,967.2 points in winning its first national title since 1984. The Aquanuts, which won three consecutive national titles between 1982 and 1984, earned top-scoring awards for ballet, barefoot and star swivel.

Aqua Skiers Win D2 Show Ski Nationals

The Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) won the team title at the 15th Division 2 Show Ski National Championships, Aug. 1-2, on Kwahamot Bay in Tomahawk, Wis. Hosted by the Kwahamot Water Ski Club, the tournament featured nine teams competing for the Division 2 show ski national title. The Division 2 Show Ski National Championships is comprised of teams and/or individuals not qualified for the Division 1 Show Ski National Championships by their respective regions.

Twin Cities Wins NSSA Midwest Regionals

The Twin Cities River Rats (Minneapolis, Minn.) won the team title at the 2015 Midwest Regional Show Ski Championships, July 24-26, in Albert Lea, Minn. The River Rats tallied 1,480.87 points in winning the title over the Ski Otters (White Bear Lake, Minn.), which scored 1,465.6 points.

Oxbow Wins NSSA Eastern Regionals

The Oxbow Water Ski Show Team (Northampton, Mass.) won the team title at the 2015 Eastern Regional Show Ski Championships, July 25-26, in Farmington, Conn. Oxbow tallied 1,251.17 points in winning the title over the Lake Mohawk Ski Hawks (Sparta, N.J.), which scored 1,175.57 points.

Mad-City Ski Teams Wins WI State Title

The Mad-City Ski Team (Madison, Wis.) won the team title Sunday at the 49th Wisconsin State Show Ski Championships at Lake Wazeecha in Wisconsin Rapids. The Wisconsin State Show Ski Championships is the world's largest water ski tournament with more than 20 teams competing. Teams and individuals were seeking to qualify for the 41st Indmar Marine Engines Division 1 Show Ski National Championships, presented by Polk County Tourism & Sports Marketing, which will be held Aug. 7-9 at Shorewood Park in Loves Park, Ill.

Wonder Lake Wins NSSA Central Regionals

The Wonder Lake Water Ski Show Team (Wonder Lake, Ill.) won the team title at the 2015 Central Regional Show Ski Championships, July 11-12, in Rock Island, Ill. Wonder Lake tallied 1,626.7 points in winning the title over the host Backwater Gamblers.

Tampa Bay Wins NSSA Southern Regionals

The Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team (Oldsmar, Fla.) won the team title Sunday at the National Show Ski Associationís 2015 Southern Regional Show Ski Championships. Tampa Bay tallied 1,646.4 points after earning high-scoring awards for dock and equipment personnel, showmanship, sound crew total and overall show. The Sarasota Ski-A-Rees (Sarasota, Fla.) placed second with 1,590.3 points.

Rock Aqua Jays Win Mercury Open

The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team won the team title at the 2015 Mercury Open on Saturday at Traxler Park in Janesville, Wis. The Rock Aqua Jays earned top-scoring awards for pick-up boat crews, towboat driving, showmanship, sound crew and overall show in tallying 1,787.17 points. The Mad-City Ski Team (Madison, Wis.) finished second with 1,711.71 points, earning high-scoring awards for dock & equipment personnel and high individual club act.

USA Water Ski Show Team Seeks Volunteers

Chris Coupland and Doug Ribley, the co-show directors for the 2016 USA Water Ski Show Team, are seeking volunteers to fill support positions for the team. The USA Water Ski Show Team will compete in the 3rd IWWF World Show Ski Tournament, Sept. 9-11, 2016, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
