5 Athletes Win Titles At America's Cup Invitational

Five athletes won titles on Friday night at the inaugural America’s Cup Invitational at the Mystic Lakes Ski Club in Maize, Kan. The event featured U.S. athletes competing in men’s and women’s slalom, tricks, jumping and overall with a total cash-prize purse of $40,000. The Open division at the 76th GOODE Water Ski National Championships – being held at Mystic Lakes through Saturday – served as the qualifying round for the America's Cup Invitational, which took place under the lights following the conclusion of Friday’s Nationals’ events. Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) won three women’s titles – slalom (4-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off), jumping (159 feet) and overall (3,649.1 points), while Kennedy Hansen (Milton, Fla.) won women’s tricks (7,950 points). In the men’s events, Ryan Canepa (Elk Grove, Calif.) won slalom (6 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off, Adam Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) won tricks (10,210 points) and Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.) won jumping (209 feet). Towboat manufacturers Malibu (women’s slalom), MasterCraft (men’s jumping) and Ski Nautique (men’s slalom and women’s jumping) pulled the event. 76th GOODE Water Ski Nationals Begins Tuesday

More than 720 water ski athletes – the largest field of competitors at the Nationals since 2010 – from across the United States will descend upon the Mystic Lakes Ski Club in Maize, Kan., Tuesday through Saturday, for the 76th annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships. The nation’s top water ski athletes will compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions. Advancement to the world’s largest three-event water ski tournament is primarily earned through placement on the national rankings list. Athletes also can qualify by placing in the top-five at respective regional championships or by placing in the top-five at the previous year’s Nationals. In addition, 11 teams representing the five regions of the American Water Ski Association, will be competing in the second annual national team competition.

Junior All-Star Teams Announced

Each year at the GOODE Water Ski National Championships, Junior All-Star teams representing their respective regions compete in a three-event overall tournament. Teams are made up of six skiers and one alternate. There must be one skier from each division: Boys 2, Boys 3, Girls 2 and Girls 3. Members of the 12-member National Junior Water Ski Team are not eligible to participate on an All-Star team. The teams are selected at the regional championships based on their scores coming into the Regionals as well as their actual performance at the Regionals.

Junior Awards Banquet Set For Aug. 9

Team Competition Set For GOODE Nationals

Eleven teams have qualified for the national team competition at the 76th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 7-11, at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. The top-two teams from each regional championships qualified for the 76th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, and all skiers of a team, regardless of ranking, can compete on their team at the Nationals. Qualified teams are: Northern California, Southern California, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Oklahoma/Arkansas, Northern Texas, Connecticut, Vermont/Maine/Rhode Island/New Hampshire, Florida and Tennessee. Florida is the two-time defending national team champion. 2016 marked the inaugural year of team skiing in which states and areas formed 3-event teams of five men, five women, and five junior skiers competing in a placement-based NOPS format like collegiate water skiing.

The 76th GOODE Water Ski National Championships will be held Aug. 7-11 at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan., and outside of the appointed and assigned officials, the local organizing club is always needing and looking for volunteers to help fill in the gaps. Important Information Regarding Signing Up For Practice

Congratulations to qualified participants for the 76th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, to be held Aug. 7-11, 2018 at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kansas. This year, the local organizing club will be hosting its sign-up for practice online as each participant registers for the tournament. It will be utilizing a Google Sheet that will serve as the official practice schedule and will be updated live by the Official Practice Coordinator. The LOC asks that you please be patient with the practice coordinators and volunteers as this is a first time offering for online practice sign-ups. It is offering the online sign-up in an effort to offer a more organized fashion for running official practice.

Towboat Draw Set For 76th GOODE Water Ski Nationals

The towboat draw has been announced for the 76th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 7-11, at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. To view and download the Towboat Draw, click here (PDF). Malibu, MasterCraft and Nautique are the approved boat manufacturers. The towboat draw is conducted for slalom and jumping. Athletes have their choice among the three manufacturers for the tricks event.

Mystic Lakes To Host 76th GOODE Water Ski Nationals

West Palm Beach To Host 2019, 2020 Water Ski Nationals

USA Water Ski and the American Water Ski Association are pleased to announce that the 2019 and 2020 Water Ski National Championships will be hosted by the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla. Exact dates are to be determined. The AWSA board of directors approved the bids from the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches during its summer board meeting on Aug. 8, 2017, in Martindale, Texas.
