74th GOODE Water Ski Nationals Begins Monday

More than 600 water ski athletes from across the United States will descend upon the Broadside Harbor Ski Club in Caldwell, Idaho., Monday through Saturday, for the 74th annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships. Action begins at 7:30 a.m. each day. The nation’s top water ski athletes will compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions. Advancement to the Water Ski National Championships – the world’s largest three-event water ski tournament – is primarily earned through placement on the national rankings list. Athletes also can qualify for the Nationals by placing in the top-five at respective regional championships or by placing in the top-five at the previous year’s Nationals. In addition, 10 teams representing the five regions of the American Water Ski Association, will be competing in the inaugural team competition. A link to the scorebook, which will be updated daily throughout the tournament, will be posted under the "Tournament Results" heading on the left-side navigation as soon as it becomes available.

Update On Junior Banquet & Cash-Prize Night Jump

The final details for the annual junior awards banquet and inaugural cash-prize night jump to be held in conjunction with the 74th GOODE Water Ski National Championships are coming together. The junior banquet will be held under the tent on site at Broadside Harbor on Friday, Aug. 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a barbecue dinner. Junior awards will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by live music, games, dancing and an auction. Sunset will be around 8:50 p.m., followed by the professional men’s $20,000 cash-prize night jump at 9:30 p.m. The following athletes set to compete: Freddy Krueger, Scot Ellis, Zack Worden, Taylor Garcia, Corbin Guyer, Stephen Seal, Nick Lang, Sam Greenwood and Terry Winter. The nine athletes will jump for four spots in the semifinals, and then two will jump in the finals.

Regional Teams Set For Inaugural Team Competition

The American Water Ski Association's regional championships concluded July 31 in the Eastern, Midwest and South Central regions. Regional team champions were Virginia (Eastern), Illinois (Midwest) and Central Texas (South Central). Florida (Southern) and Northern California (Western) had already won titles at their respective regionals. The top-two teams at each regional championships advance to the inaugural team skiing competition at the 74th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 8-13, in Caldwell, Idaho. Other qualifying teams are: Connecticut (Eastern), Tennessee (Southern), Ohio (Midwest), Oklahoma/Arkansas (South Central) and Southern California/Hawaii (Western). Photo 13 Media will be the official photographer of the 74th GOODE Water Ski National Championships. Photo 13 Media will be on site all week during the Nationals so that competitors can view, buy, and take home their photos after checking them out on big screen viewing stations. Level 8 Skiers Are Qualified For Nationals As Of July 14

The national rankings' list qualifications cutoff date for the 74th GOODE Water Ski National Championships was July 14. Any U.S. athlete with a Level 8 national ranking is now qualified for the Nationals, which will be held Aug. 8-13 at Broadside Harbor in Caldwell, Idaho. Your qualification does, however, require that you ski in one of the Regional Water Ski Championships.

Cash-Prize Night Jump Planned During Nationals

Barry Young, tournament organizer of the 2016 GOODE Water Ski National Championships, has announced that a men’s professional night jump invitational will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, in conjunction with the Nationals. The 74th annual Nationals will be held Aug. 8-13 at the Broadside Harbor Ski Club in Caldwell, Idaho. U.S. water ski athletes Scot Ellis, Taylor Garcia, Freddy Krueger, Mark Lane, Nick Lang and Zack Worden have already verbally accepted invitations to the event, which is expected to include a cash prize totaling $20,000.

Dave Goode Wants To Pay Your Nationals' Entry Fee

Thinking about competing in your first Nationals at this year's GOODE Water Ski National Championships in Caldwell, Idaho? Dave Goode has announced that he will pay the entry fee for any slalom skier, who this year, while riding a GOODE ski, competes in his or her first U.S. national championships. The towboat draw for the 74th GOODE Water Ski National Championships has been announced. The Nationals will be held Aug. 8-13. Boat draw information is available for all slalom and jumping events. Volunteer Judges and Scorers Needed For Nationals

The American Water Ski Association is in need of volunteer judges and scorers to help out during the 74th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 8-13, in Caldwell, Idaho. All Regular/Senior Judges and Scorers who are planning to attend the Nationals and would like to volunteer some time to work an event should contact Tim Vaio at tvaio@mindspring.com with your judges rating level; days you will be available to work; and what events you would be willing to work.

2016 GOODE Water Ski Nationals Heading To Idaho

USA Water Ski and the American Water Ski Association are pleased to announce that the 2016 GOODE Water Ski National Championships will be held at Broadside Harbor in Caldwell, Idaho. The dates of the 74th Nationals will be Aug. 8-13, 2016. The American Water Ski Association, one of nine sport discipline organizations of USA Water Ski, approved the bid from the Broadside Harbor Ski Club via a board of directors vote in October 2015.
