Changes To AWSA Officials' Renewals

The American Water Ski Association moved from a two-year to a four-year renewal for AWSA judges, scorers and drivers beginning Jan. 1, 2020. As a result, officials ratings renewed for 2020 expire 12/31/2023 and new AWSA Assistant ratings issued in 2020 expire 12/31/2024. Due to COVID-19 and the challenges it presents in working events in 2020, the AWSA board recently voted to reduce the number of tournament credits required for future renewals.

Changes To Judges/Scorers Renewal Requirements Due To COVID-19

The AWSA board voted to reduce the number of tournament credits required for 2024 and 2025 renewals only, from eight to six tournaments over the four-year renewal period for AWSA Judges/Scorers. Clinic requirements will remain unchanged due to the increased availability of online and virtual clinics.

Changes To Driver Renewal Requirements Due To COVID-19

The AWSA board voted to reduce the number of tournament credits required for 2024 and 2025 renewals only, from eight to six tournaments for Assistant Drivers and 12 to nine tournaments for Regular/Senior Drivers over the four-year renewal period. Clinic and MVR Review requirements will remain unchanged.

Changes To TC Renewal Requirements Due To COVID-19

AWSA moved from a two-year to a four-year renewal for technical controllers beginning Jan. 1, 2018. As a result, technical controller ratings renewed for 2018 expire 12/31/2021 and new technical controller ratings issued in 2018, 2019 and 2020 expire 12/31/2022, 12/31/2023 and 12/31/2024, respectively. Due to COVID-19 and the challenges it presents in working events in 2020, the AWSA board voted to reduce the number of tournament credits required for 2022-2025 renewals only, from four to three tournaments over the four-year renewal period for AWSA Technical Controllers. Clinic requirements for renewal will remain unchanged.

How to Check Your Current Official Rating Status, Expiration, Certifications and Events Worked:

Log into your Members-Only section of the USA-WSWS website using your membership number and password

Choose Official Ratings/Certifications from the left-hand navigational menu

Ratings - displays your current official ratings, expiration date and current status toward the next renewal period

Certifications - displays all certifications (i.e., SafeSport, Background Screening, First Aid/CPR, MVR Reviews) on file and their expiration date

Events - displays ALL events for which you have received officials' credit. Event credits are manually imported upon receipt so allow a few extra days after the event for credit to be awarded.

NOTE: It is imperative that you check your event credits often to ensure that you've received proper credit for events worked rather than waiting until the next renewal period to find that you did not receive credit and are short for renewal.

If you have any questions regarding these changes or your rating, please email officials@usawaterski.org.
