Having FUN Today...Building CHAMPIONS For Tomorrow

Happy Holidays From USA-WSWS

On behalf of our headquarters staff and board of directors, happy holidays from USA Water Ski & Wake Sports. As a reminder, headquarters will be closed from Dec. 23-Jan. 1. It will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2. As 2019 comes to an end, I wanted to wish you and your family the best as we head into the New Year. We worked hard over the past 12 months to make sure all of our members have the best experience possible. Our organization had some noteworthy accomplishments in 2019:

•    USA Water Ski & Wake Sports welcomed 2,482 new members in 2019!

•    Launching a series of targeted monthly e-newsletters with content specific to each segment of our membership.

•    Adding a handful of new sponsors - Lake On Company, Knotty Girl, Rosewater Estates and Wilson Trophy.

•    Seeing a nearly 20% increase in followers to our social media channels.

•    Adding a handful of new membership benefits, including discounts to theme parks, movie theaters and other unique offers through MemberDeals and a new partnership offering tuition assistance with DeVry University. Be sure to check out all your members benefits and discounts in the Members Only area of the website.

•    Continuing to take measures to ensure we create a safe environment for all members by updating our membership and event waivers to include a Code of Conduct and SafeSport acknowledgment. And kudos to the 1,646 members who took the SafeSport training course in 2019 and to the 4,369 members who are currently SafeSport certified.

•    On the water, hosting a series of quality national championships events – the GOODE U.S. Water Ski National Championship (video) in West Palm Beach, Fla. and the Indmar Show Ski National Championship presented by Polk County Tourism & Sports Marketing in Warsaw, Ind. In addition, USA Wakeboard hosted an inaugural team trials event and collegiate cable national championships, and the American Barefoot Club, National Collegiate Water Ski Association and National Water Ski Racing Association each hosted successful national championship events as well.

•    Earning eight medals, including five gold, in water ski and wakeboard competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

•    Developing a Learn to Ski program with Girls, Inc. (video) to introduce minority girls to the sport. The program was funded by a grant from the Women’s Sports Foundation and was a finalist among 50 other NGBs for the USOPC Diversity and Inclusion Award.

As we head into 2020, there are a number of exiting projects in the queue, including the re-launch of www.usawaterski.org in April and a new backend membership database system set to unveil in October. We are also planning to launch a new online USA-WSWS store with updated designs and apparel selections. Other technical enhancements, including online event registration, a learning management system to update our officials and judging programs, and a revamped sanctioning system, are also in the works for later 2020 and into 2021.

We are also excited to launch our inaugural Get on the Water Week from June 28-July 3, where USA-WSWS affiliated clubs will be encouraged to host basic skills clinics to get more newcomers on the water. During this week, USA-WSWS will waive all Basic Skills Clinics sanctioning and guest membership fees to incentivize clubs to participate.

It’s an exciting time to be a member of USA-WSWS and we look forward to another great year - on and off the water.

Happy New Year!

- Nate Boudreaux
