Smith, Jaquess Win Swiss Pro Titles

U.S. water ski athletes Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.) and Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) won the menís and womenís titles, respectively, on Sunday at the 2018 Swiss Pro Slalom at the Swiss Waterski Resort in Groveland, Fla.

Smith scored 4 buoys at 41 feet off in the finals to clinch the title over Great Britainís Will Asher (3 buoys at 41 feet off) and Franceís Sacha Descuns (3 buoys at 41 feet off). Smith was the only menís athlete to run the 41 off pass in the tournament, scoring 0 buoys at 43 feet off in the first round and 1 buoy at 43 feet off in the semifinals.

Jaquess scored 2 buoys at 41 feet off in the finals to clinch the title over Franceís Manon Costard (3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off) and Canadaís Whitney McClintock (3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off). Jaquess was the only womenís athlete to run the 39-1/2 off pass in the tournament, and she did it all three rounds (2 buoys at 41 feet off, 1-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off and 2 buoys at 41 feet off).
