South Central Wins Collegiate All-Stars

The National Collegiate Water Ski Association’s South Central Region won the coveted team title at the 37th Collegiate All-Stars Water Ski Championships, May 12-13, at Bayou DeSiard in Monroe, La. Hosted by the University of Louisiana-Monroe water ski team, the two-day event included the top-10 men and top-10 women from each of the NCWSA's four regions vying for the regional team title and individual titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.

The South Central Region tallied 13,590 points, followed by the four-time defending champion Midwest Region (10,695 points), Eastern Region (4,675 points) and Western Region (4,420 points).

Individual event winners were: Louisiana-Lafayette’s Taryn Grant (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), women’s slalom (2 buoys at 38 feet off), jumping (150 feet) and overall (990 points); Louisiana-Monroe’s Katerina Svecoa (Jihlava, Czech Republic), women’s tricks (3,210 points); Louisiana-Monroe’s Tom Poole (Birmingham, United Kingdom), men’s slalom (4 buoys at 38 feet off); and Louisiana-Monroe’s Danylo Filchenko (Dnipro, Ukraine), men’s tricks (5,770 points), jumping (187 feet) and overall (935 points).
