U.S. Athletes Place At Junior Moomba

Ali GarciaU.S. water ski athletes Ali Garcia (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Taylor Grathwohl (Martindale, Texas) earned podium finishes in respective events at the 42nd Junior Moomba Masters, March 7-8, in Melbourne, Australia. The Junior Moomba Masters determines its champions by the two-round scoring total.

Garcia placed second in girls' slalom with scores of 1 buoy at 38 feet off in the first round and 3 buoys at 32 feet off in the second round.

Grathwohl placed second in girls' tricks (6,060 points/4,470 points) and overall (2,506.03 points), third in jumping (103 feet/116 feet), and sixth in slalom (3 buoys at 32 feet off/1 buoy at 35 feet off).

U.S. athlete Garrett Stallings (Rossville, Tenn.) placed fourth in boys' tricks (5,330 points/5,250 points).

Event winners were as follows: Australia’s Sade Ferguson, girls’ slalom and overall; Australia's Tayla Simmonds, girls' tricks; Peru's Alejandra De Osma, girls' jumping; Argentina's Tobias Giorgis, boys’ slalom and overall; Mexico’s Patricio Font, boys' tricks; and New Zealand's Will Gibson, boys' jumping.
