U.S. Teams Win Can Am Challenge Titles

The U.S. Under 17 and Under 14 Water Ski Teams each won titles at the 9th Can Am Team Challenge, Aug. 26-27, at the Lake of Dreams in Jerseyville, Ill. The two-day, world-record capability event featured team competitions between Canada and the United States. A six-member Under 17 Team and a six-member Under 14 Team represented each country.

Members of the U.S. Under 17 Water Ski Team were: Bailey Grathwohl (Martindale, Texas), Tiana Kosek (Buffalo, Minn.), Blake Keller (New Hartford, Conn.), Garrett Reese (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Will Roberts (Dow, Ill.) and Brett Stackpole (Dow, Ill.).

The U.S. Under 17 Water Ski Team tallied 7,927.93 points to Canada’s 5,673.24 points. Team scores were based on the top-three team members’ overall scores for each of the three events (slalom, tricks and jumping).

Members of the U.S. Under 14 Water Ski Team were: James Bryans (Acworth, Ga.), Alyssa Drake (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Allyson Grathwohl (Martindale, Texas), Blaze Grubbs (Rio Linda, Calif.), Kennedy Hansen (Milton, Fla.) and Brody Keller (New Hartford, Conn.).  

The U.S. Under 14 Water Ski Team tallied 8,740.29 points to Canada’s 7,090.06 points. Team scores were based on the top-three team members’ overall scores for each of the three events (slalom, tricks and jumping).

Bob Schouten (Alexander City, Ala.) served as coach and manager for the U.S. teams. Camille Tyler (Orlando, Fla.) was the assistant manager.
