Smith, Baldwin Win California Pro Am Titles

U.S. water ski athletes Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.) and Brooke Baldwin (Windermere, Fla.) won the men’s and women’s slalom titles, respectively, on Sunday at the 15th California Water Ski Pro Am at Bell Acqua Lakes in Rio Linda, Calif. It was the first professional victory for the 16-year-old Baldwin.

Smith won the men’s title over fellow U.S. athlete Chris Parrish (Orlando, Fla.), winning the head-to-head final with a score of 3 buoys at 41 feet off to Parrish’s 2-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off. Baldwin defeated fellow U.S. athlete Karen Truelove in the women’s head-to-head final, scoring 2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to Truelove’s 1-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off.
