Canadaís Dodd Wins Vladimir Filin Memorial

Canada's Ryan Dodd won the menís jumping title on Sunday at the Vladimir Filin Memorial Moscow Pro Jump in Moscow, Russia. Some of the world's top water ski jumpers competed in the event. Dodd, the top seed for the finals, soared 247 feet on his first jump in the finals to clinch the title. Great Britain's Jack Critchley finished second (221 feet) and U.S. athlete Taylor Garcia (Winter Garden, Fla.) placed third (220 feet).

U.S. athletes Zack Worden (Orlando, Fla.) and Scot Ellis (Auburndale, Fla.) placed sixth (216 feet) and seventh (215 feet), respectively in the menís event.

U.S. athlete Lauren Morgan (Odessa, Fla.) placed second in the womenís event, just one-tenth-of-a-meter behind winner Nancy Chardin of France. Chardin soared 167 feet (50.8 meters) for the win. Morgan jumped 166 feet (50.7 meters). Finlandís Jutta Menestrina placed third (166 feet/50.5 meters).

U.S. athlete Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.), who was hoping to return to competition at this event following the crash he endured at the U.S. Masters in late May, is still recovering from the injuries he suffered. The former world-record holder says he is aiming for a return at one of the upcoming pro events in August.
