Baldwin, Canepa Win Junior Masters Titles

U.S. water ski athletes Brooke Baldwin (Windermere, Fla.) and Ryan Canepa (Elk Grove, Calif.) won respective titles on Friday at the 25th Nautique Junior Masters Water Ski Tournament at Callaway Gardensí Robin Lake in Pine Mountain, Ga.

Baldwin scored 8,170 points in winning Junior Womenís tricks. Canadaís Paige Rini (8,020 points) and Chileís Valentina Gonzalez (7,130 points) rounded out the top-three placements.

Canepa scored 0 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off in winning his second consecutive Junior Menís slalom title. Franceís Louis Duplan-Frobourg (5-1/2 buoys at 35 feet off) finished second and Hungaryís Aron Albert (1-1/2 buoys at 35 feet off) placed third.†

In Junior Womenís slalom, Canadaís Jaimee Bull won the title, scoring 3-1/2 buoys at 38 feet off. Peruís Alejandra DeOsma (1 buoy at 38 feet off) finished second and Rini (1/2 buoy at 38 feet off) placed third.

In Junior Womenís jumping, Canadaís Dominique Grondin-Allard won the title for the second consecutive year with a distance of 153 feet. Baldwin placed second (149 feet) and Italyís Ginevra Buonopane finished third (135 feet).

In Junior Womenís overall, Rini won the title with 2,929.4 points after posting scores of 2 buoys at 38 feet off in slalom (elimination rond), 8,020 points in tricks (finals) and 121 feet in jumping (elimination round). Gonzalez finished second (2,612.7 points) and DeOsma placed third (2,345.5 points).

In Junior Menís tricks, Mexicoís Patricio Font won the title with 9,510 points. Duplan-Fribourg (9,480 points) and Great Britainís Robert Hazelwood (7,880 points) rounded out the top-three placements.

In Junior Menís jumping, Duplan-Fribourg won the title with a distance of 181 feet. Hazelwood placed second (178 feet) and U.S. athlete Quinn Haines (Avon, Conn.) finished third (176 feet).

In Junior Menís overall, Duplan-Fribourg won the title with 3,000 points after recording top scores of 3 buoys at 38 feet off in slalom (elimination round), 9,480 points in tricks (finals) and 185 feet in jumping (elimination round). Hazelwood finished second with 2,709.6 points and Haines placed third with 2,237.4 points.
