Rodgers Wins Nautique Big Dawg Stop No. 1

The first stop of the 2017 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour, presented by O’Brien, was held Saturday and Sunday at the Greater Miami Ski Club in Miami, Fla., with U.S. athlete Jeff Rodgers (Ninety Six, S.C.) winning the event. Rodgers and fellow U.S. athlete Ben Favret needed a runoff to settle the title. After both skiers tied with scores of 2 buoys at 41 feet off in the final, Rodgers scored 6 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to Favret’s 3-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off in the subsequent runoff.

Now in its 12th season, the Big Dawg World Tour is pulled exclusively by the world-record setting Ski Nautique 200. The tour includes four qualifying stops around the globe at premier water ski venues as the top 34-mph slalom skiers who are 35+ battle it out for a spot in the Big Dawg World Tour Finals. Each stop includes two rounds of 34-mph slalom action, followed by a bracketed 16-skier head-to-head finale. The 2017 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour Finals will be held Aug. 26 at Bell Acqua Lakes in Rio Linda, Calif.
