2017 Chain Of Records Event Underway

More than 200 water skiers from across the United States are converging on Polk County, Florida, Wednesday through Sunday for the second biennial Chain of Records event. The USA Water Ski-sanctioned event is being held at multiple lakes near Winter Haven, Fla., with the potential of more than 30 records Guinness Book of World Records and/or National Show Ski Association being set.

Record attempts will be made in barefooting, swivel skiing, ballet lines, wakeboarding, hydrofoiling, freestyle jumping and disabled water skiing. Geno Yauchler, one of the event organizers, says 12 Guinness records could be established, according to officials from The Guinness Book of World Records.

Events are being held at Grassy Lake in Lake Alfred at the Lucky Lowe Ski School; Lake Eloise in Winter Haven starting at the Lake Summit Boat Ramp; Lake Hartridge in Winter Haven from the Lake Hartridge Boat Ramp; and Lake Ariana in Auburndale from the Ariana Beach Yacht Club.

The inaugural Chain of Records was held in April 2015 and had more than 28 records set.
