Athletes Selected For 2017 World Games

Five water ski athletes and three wakeboard athletes will represent USA Water Ski at the 10th World Games, July 25-27, at Odra River Marina in Wroclaw, Poland. The World Games, first held in 1981, is an international multi-sport event meant for sports that are not contested in the Olympics. The water ski program consists of three-event water skiing (slalom, tricks and jumping) and wakeboarding.

The participating athletes who compete solely for individual medals are selected based on world rankings and availability. U.S. athletes who have been selected to participate are: Nicola Butler (Orlando, Fla.), women's wakeboarding; Mike Dowdy (Pinckney, Mich.), men's wakeboarding; Samantha Dumala (Wellington, Fla.), women's slalom; Taylor Garcia (Winter Garden, Fla.), men's jumping; Anna Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.), women's tricks; Erika Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.), women's wakeboarding; Alex Lauretano (Windermere, Fla.), women's jumping; and Adam Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), men's tricks.

Held every four years, the World Games is organized and governed by the International World Games Association, under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. For more information on the 10th World Games, visit https://theworldgames2017.com/en/.
