Detrick Places 2nd At Aussie Open

U.S. water ski athlete Brian Detrick (Elk Grove, Calif.) placed second in men's slalom on Sunday at the 2014 MasterCraft ProStar Australian Open Pro-Am at Stoney Park in Telegraph Point, Australia. Australia's Joel Howley won the title after a four-way run-off for first place.
Detrick, Howley, Nick Adams (Australia) and Adam Sedlmajer (Czech Republic) all tied with a score of 2 buoys at 41 feet off in the finals. In the subsequent run-off, Howley ran 2 buoys at 41 feet off, followed by Detrick with 4-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off, Sedlmajer (3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off) and Adams (2-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off).
In women's slalom, Australia's Emma Sheers won the title, scoring 2-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off, followed by Germany's Geena Krueger (2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off) and U.S. athlete Bailey Austin (Buda, Texas), 1 buoy at 38 feet off.
