Detrick Places 2nd At Aussie Open

Men's slalom top-three placements  Joel Howley (first), Brian Detrick (second) and Adam Sedlmajer (third).U.S. water ski athlete Brian Detrick (Elk Grove, Calif.) placed second in men's slalom on Sunday at the 2014 MasterCraft ProStar Australian Open Pro-Am at Stoney Park in Telegraph Point, Australia. Australia's Joel Howley won the title after a four-way run-off for first place.

Detrick, Howley, Nick Adams (Australia) and Adam Sedlmajer (Czech Republic) all tied with a score of 2 buoys at 41 feet off in the finals. In the subsequent run-off, Howley ran 2 buoys at 41 feet off, followed by Detrick with 4-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off, Sedlmajer (3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off) and Adams (2-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off).

In women's slalom, Australia's Emma Sheers won the title, scoring 2-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off, followed by Germany's Geena Krueger (2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off) and U.S. athlete Bailey Austin (Buda, Texas), 1 buoy at 38 feet off.
