U.S. Elite Water Ski Team Selected

USA Water Ski announced today the selection of the 2013 U.S. Elite Water Ski Team. The six-member team, selected by the American Water Ski Associationís International Activities Committee, will compete in the 33rd Water Ski World Championships, Nov. 25-Dec. 1, at Laguna Los Morros in San Bernardo, Chile.

Athletes selected to the 2013 U.S. Elite Water Ski Team were: Scot Ellis (Auburndale, Fla.), Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.), Erika Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.), Alex Lauretano (Windermere, Fla.), Adam Pickos (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.).

Selected†to the pool of†alternates were (alphabetical order): Russell Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.), Caroline Hensley (Hixson, Tenn.), Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.), Jon Travers (Groveland, Fla.), Karen Truelove (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Zack Worden (Deltona, Fla.).

The team members and alternates were selected based on performances at the 2013 U.S. Elite Water Ski Team Trials, Oct. 5-6, at Sunset Lakes in Groveland, Fla.

Jeff Surdej (Wilmington, Ill.) will be the coach of the U.S. Elite Water Ski Team, Jody Johnson (Nashville, Tenn.) will be the manager and Dr. Brad Harman (Cleburne, Texas) will serve as the team physician.

The United States, which has won 25 world team gold medals, earned the bronze medal at the 2011 Water Ski World Championships. Belarus earned the gold and France earned the silver at the 2011 Worlds.
