Jaquess, Smith Win Diablo Shores Titles

U.S. water ski athlete Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) tied her own world record of 3 buoys at 41 feet off on Sunday on her way to winning the women’s slalom title at the 2013 Diablo Shores Pro-Am at Bell Acqua Lakes in Rio Linda, Calif. U.S. athlete Nate Smith (McCordsville, Ind.) won the men’s slalom title.

Jaquess tied the world record in the semifinals and then went on to defeat Canada's Whitney McClintock in the head-to-head finale, scoring 6 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to McClintock's 1-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off. Smith defeated fellow U.S. athlete Chris Parrish in the men's head-to-head finale, scoring 0 at 43 feet off to Parrish’s 3-1/2 at 39-1/2 feet off.
