U.S. Teams Win Can Am Challenge Titles

The U.S. Under 17 and Under 13 Water Ski Teams each won titles at the 6th Can Am Challenge, Aug. 31-Sept. 1, at the Lake of Dreams in Jerseyville, Ill. The two-day, world-record capability event featured team competitions between Canada and the United States. A six-member Under 17 Team and a six-member Under 13 Team represented each country.

Members of the U.S. Under 17 Water Ski Team were: Bailey Austin (Buda, Texas), Brooke Baldwin (Windermere, Fla.), Christian DeVito (San Diego, Calif.), Anna Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.), Abbi Grathwohl (McQueeney, Texas) and Corbin Guyer (Pierson, Fla.).

The U.S. Under 17 Water Ski Team tallied 8,663.2 points to Canada’s 8,343.3 points. Team scores were based on the top-three team members’ overall scores for each of the three events (slalom, tricks and jumping).

Members of the U.S. Under 13 Water Ski Team were: Kristen Baldwin (Windermere, Fla.), Lauren Boskus (Elkins, Ark.), Bailey Grathwohl (McQueeney, Texas), Taylor Grathwohl (McQueeney, Texas), Garrett Stallings (Rossville, Tenn.) and Griffin Stange (Sherman, Texas).

The U.S. Under 13 Water Ski Team tallied 8,229.7 points to Canada’s 6,222.8 points. Team scores were based on the top-three team members’ overall scores for each of the three events (slalom, tricks and jumping).

Cris Kodiak (Chicago, Ill.) and Marc Shaw (Ocoee, Fla.) served as manager and coach, respectively.
