The Chetek Hydroflites (Chetek, Wis.) won the team title at the 13th Indmar Marine Engines Division 2 Show Ski National Championships, Aug. 2-4, in Tomahawk, Wis. Hosted by the Kwahamot Water Ski Club (Tomahawk, Wis.), the tournament featured 14 teams competing for the Division 2 show ski national title.
In competitive show skiing, each club has one hour to present a theatrical performance on water skis. Judges score the acts by awarding points based on originality, presentation and execution. Elaborate costumes and staging intermix with music and fast action on the water as an announcer leads the audience through the show.
The Chetek Hydroflites won top awards for dock and equipment personnel, towboat driving, showmanship, sound crew and overall show in tallying 1,417.88 points. The Waterboard Warriors (Wrightstown, Wis.) earned top-scoring awards for pick-up boat crews and pyramid to finish second with 1,357.27 points. The Kwahamot Water Ski Club (1,351.77 points) finished third with 1,351.77 points. The Silver Lake Ski Club (Fenton, Mich.) placed fourth with 1,342.37 points, and the Shermalot Show Team (Rome, Wis.) rounded out the top-five placements with 1,280.23 points.
