U.S. disabled water ski athlete Mike Royal set a new Vision Impaired (V1) world slalom record of 4 buoys at 58k/38 feet off on June 22 at the Aquaplex June Record Slalom 1 in Creedmoor, Texas. The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation's Disabled Technical Committee has approved the record.
The record surpasses the mark of 2-1/2 buoys at 58kph/38 feet off that Royal set on May 11 at the Miami Nautique International tournament in Miami, Fla. Royal had held the former record of 2 buoys at 38 feet off since July 2009.
