Badal Wins Big Dawg Stop No. 3

U.S. water ski athlete Greg Badal (Brentwood, Calif.) won the third stop of the 2013 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour on Sunday in Canton, Miss. The 2013 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour consists of six events, including the series championship, Aug. 15-16, at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Badal faced fellow U.S. athlete Tim Huston (Lake Wales, Fla.) in the head-to-head finale, scoring 2-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off to Huston’s half-buoy at 41 feet off. For complete results, visit http://nautiquebigdawg.com.

Each qualifying event, as well as the series championship, includes two rounds of 34 mph record-capability slalom action, followed by a bracketed 16-skier head-to-head finale.   

Skiers age 35 and older who have not placed in the top 10 of a professional slalom tournament in the past three years are qualified to compete in the Big Dawg World Tour.

Great Britain's Andy Mapple won stop No. 1, Feb. 1-2, in San Bernardo, Chile, and U.S. athlete Greg Badal won stop No. 2, March 8-10, in Melbourne, Australia.

Feb. 1-2: San Bernardo, Chile (Winner – Andy Mapple)
