U.S. disabled water ski athlete Mike Royal set a new Vision Impaired (V1) world slalom record of 2-1/2 buoys at 58kph/38 feet off on May 11 at the Miami Nautique International tournament in Miami, Fla. The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation's Disabled Technical Committee ratified the record on June 3.
The Water Skiers with Disabilities Association also approved the score as a United States national record. Royal held the former record of 2 buoys at 38 feet off since July 2009.
