Amanda Hoffman, who was critically injured after she and two other Texas A&M water ski team members were involved in a traffic crash in Mississippi last month as they drove to the Collegiate All-Stars Water Ski Championships, lost her fight for life on Thursday, according to the Facebook page created to provide updates on her condition.
Hoffman, 23, was the captain of the team and had just graduated from Texas A&M.
She and her two teammates were en route to the tournament in Ahoskie, N.C., when they were involved in the accident on May 17 east of Jackson, Miss. Her teammates weren't seriously hurt, but Hoffman, who was asleep in the backseat without a seat belt on, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered a severe head injury that left her in a coma.
A fund-raising account was established after the accident to help her family with medical bills and additional expenses. To donate, click on the following link: http://www.gofundme.com/2ze3vc.
