U.S. Athletes Win Junior Mastersí Titles

U.S. water ski athletes Brie Carter (Loudon, Tenn.) and Anna Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.) won respective titles Friday at the 21st Junior Masters Water Ski Tournament on Robin Lake at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.

Carter won the Junior Womenís slalom title for the second consecutive year, scoring 2-1/2 buoys at 32 feet off to clinch the victory. Portugalís Marta Simoes finished second with a score of 1-1/2 buoys at 32 feet off, followed by U.S. athlete Allie Nicholson (Gallatin, Tenn.) with a score of Ĺ-buoy at 32 feet off.

Gay won the Junior Womenís tricks title, scoring 6,900 points. Canada's Neilly Ross (6,610 points) and Italy's Alice Bagnoli (6,240 points), finished second and third, respectively.

Other event winners were: Canada's Dorien Llewellyn, Junior Men's Jumping (173 feet) and overall (2,930.4 points); Italy's Pajni Gianmarco, Junior Men's tricks (8,760 points); Canada's Jonah Shaffer, Junior Men's slalom (3 buoys at 38 feet off); Australia's Stephanie Griffiths, Junior Women's Jumping (132 feet); and Great Britain's Charlotte Wharton, Junior Women's Overall (3,000.0 points).

U.S. athlete Taylor Garcia (Winter Garden, Fla.) finished runner-up in Junior Men's jumping (169 feet) and third overall (2,317 points). U.S. athlete Kara MacIntyre (Knoxville, Tenn.) placed runner-up in Junior Women's overall (2,447.4 points).
