Athletes Of The Month Selected

USA Water Ski has selected Todd Ristorcelli (Orlando, Fla.) and Erika Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.) as its Male Athlete of the Month and Female Athlete of the Month, respectively, for August. The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team (Janesville, Wis.) was selected USA Water Ski’s Team of the Month. Ristorcelli and Lang are now eligible for the United States Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Month honors.

Ristorcelli won the Masters Men national slalom title with a pending national record score of 5 buoys at 41 feet off at the 70th GOODE Water Ski National Championships on Aug. 18 at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla. Ristorcelli also won the 2012 Ski Nautique Big Dawg World Tour Championship, presented by O’Brien, on Aug. 17 at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla. Ristorcelli defeated Great Britain's Andy Mapple in the head-to-head finale to clinch the title.

Lang won the Girls 3 national tricks and overall titles at the 70th GOODE Water Ski National Championships. Aug. 14-18, at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Fla. She also finished second in jumping and fourth in slalom. Her winning score in tricks of 9,140 points is a pending Girls 3 and Open Women national tricks record.

The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team won the national team title at the 38th Indmar Marine Engines Division 1 Show Ski National Championships, presented by Gevo, Aug. 10-12, on the Rock River at Traxler Park in Janesville, Wis. It was the Rock Aqua Jays' second consecutive and 17th overall national team title. The Rock Aqua Jays tallied 2,221.48 points in sweeping the traditional box scores for Dock & Equipment Crew, Pick-Up Boat Driving, Towboat Driving and Sound Crew, and earned the top-scoring awards for Strap Doubles, Barefoot (Barefoot Line) and Pyramid (5-high).
