Krueger, Merritt Win World Cup Titles

U.S. athletes Freddy Krueger and Raimi Merritt won titles in respective events Sunday at the opening event of the 2012 IWWF Water Ski & Wakeboard World Cup in Mandurah, Australia. Some of the world’s top water ski (tricks and jumping) and wakeboard athletes competed for titles and cash prizes in tricks, jumping and wakeboarding.

Krueger won the men's jumping title in challenging water conditions with a distance of 185 feet, while Merritt won the women's wakeboarding title. Other event winners: France's Clementine Lucine, women's tricks (7,540 points); Belarus' Aliaksei Zharnasek, men's tricks (10,160 points); Belarus' Natallia Berdnikava, women's jumping (127 feet); and Australia's Harley Clifford, men's wakeboarding.
