U.S. barefoot athlete Keith St. Onge of Winter Haven, Fla., has been selected as the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation's 2009 Male Athlete of the Year. Canada's Whitney McClintock, a three-event water ski competitor, was named the IWWF's Female Athlete of the Year.
The American Barefoot Club board of directors has ratified the team coaches and managers for the 2010 U.S. Barefoot Water Ski Teams. The teams will compete in the 2010 Barefoot Water Ski World Championships, Aug. 9-16, in Brandenburg City, Germany.
The 32nd Parson's Roofing Barefoot Water Ski National Championships concluded Aug. 15 at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan., with Keith St. Onge (Winter Haven, Fla.) setting a pending world tricks record of 12,650 points on his way to winning the Open Pro Men national tricks title. St. Onge also won titles in Open Pro Men slalom, jumping and overall.
