Some of the world's top junior water ski athletes will compete for titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall at the two-round, world-record capability event, June 28-29, at Still Waters in Oconomowoc, Wis. AWSA Seeks Officials For 2019 U21 Worlds

The American Water Ski Association’s International Activities Committee (IAC) will be nominating officials for the 2019 Under 21 Water Ski World Championships, which is to be held the third weekend of June 2019. The site for the tournament has not yet been determined, but the event will either be in Canada or France. The IAC follows a progressive selection process for choosing officials as set forth below. An official needs to participate in at least one event in each category before putting in for events in the next category.

St. Onge Prevails At New Year’s Day Event

Keith St. OngeWarm weather and world class competitors brought a large crowd of spectators to the Lake Norman Marina shoreline to watch the 41st Annual New Year’s Day Barefoot Tournament. In addition to contestants from the Lake Norman region, contestants also came from New Jersey, Indiana and Florida to compete in this unique and challenging event in Denver, N.C. Most notable contestants were Keith St. Onge, 19-time national champion and 11-time world gold medalist, and Rachel Normand, former women’s world champion and the 2018 Senior Women’s world champion. St. Onge was also selected by USA Water Ski & Wake Sports as its Male Athlete of the year for 2018.

St. Onge, Jaquess Named Athletes Of The Year

Keith. St. OngeUSA Water Ski & Wake Sports will hold its annual Awards Banquet – honoring the 2018 award recipients from USA Water Ski & Wake Sports and its respective sport discipline organizations on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Fla. The event, presented by Nautique, is being held in conjunction with USA Water Ski & Wake Sports’ mid-winter board meetings for the 19th consecutive year. The award winners were selected either by the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Awards Committee or by the sport discipline’s organization. Kelley, Siemers Selected Athletes of the Month

USThe U.S. 35+ Water Ski World Championships Team won the overall team gold medal at the 5th 35+ Water Ski World Championships, Nov. 27-Dec. 2, at Lago Los Morros in San Bernardo, Chile.A Water Ski & Wake Sports has selected Joy Kelley (Loudon, Tenn.) as its Female Athlete of the Month and Jimmy Siemers (Round Rock, Texas) as its Male Athlete of the Month for December. The U.S. 35+ Water Ski World Championships Team was selected Team of the Month. Kelley, Siemers and the U.S. 35+ Water Ski World Championships Team are now eligible for the United States Olympic Committee’s Best of December Team USA Awards, presented by Dow.

Bulletin 1 Available For 2019 Water Ski Worlds

The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation has released Bulletin No. 1 for the 2019 Water Ski World Championships. The 36th biennial tournament will be held Aug. 13-18 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The United States will be represented by a six-member team and several independents at the world championships.
