Canada’s Miller Wins Nautique Big Dawg No. 2

The second stop of the 2018 Nautique Big Dawg World Tour, presented by O’Brien, was held Saturday and Sunday at Cedar Ridge Ski Club in Canton, Miss., with Canada’s David Miller winning over U.S. athlete Jeff Rodgers (Ninety Six, S.C.). After both skiers tied with scores of 5 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off in the head-to-head finals, Miller won the subsequent runoff with a score of 2-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to Rodgers’ 3 buoys at 38 feet off. Miller also won stop No. 1 in May in West Palm Beach, Fla. Now in its 13th season, the Big Dawg World Tour includes four qualifying stops around the globe at premier water ski venues as the top 34-mph slalom skiers who are 35+ battle it out for a spot in the Big Dawg World Tour Finals.

Rock Aqua Jays Win City Of Lakes Invitational

The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team (Janesville, Wis.) won the team title on Saturday at the 2018 City of Lakes Invitational in Warsaw, Ind. The Rock Aqua Jays swept top awards for dock and equipment personnel, pick-up boat crews, towboat driving, showmanship, sound crew total, overall show and high individual club act on the way to tallying a grand total of 1,636.4 points. The host Lake City Skiers (Warsaw, Ind.) placed second (1,307.23 points) and Silver Lake (Fenton, Mich.) finished third (1,126.3 points) in the five-team field.

Entry Info Posted For Disabled Nationals

The Tournament Packet and Entry Form (PDF) for the 25th Barbara Bolding/Jim Grew Fund Disabled Water Ski National Championships is now available to view and download. The 2018 Disabled Nationals be hosted by the Kentucky Lake Ski Nuts, Sept. 5-8, at Twin Oaks Lakes in Paducah, Ky. The results from the tournament also will be used to select the 2019 U.S. Disabled Team, which will compete in the 14th Disabled Water Ski World Championships, July 22-28, 2019 in Skarnes, Norway. Towboat Draw Set For 76th GOODE Nationals

The towboat draw has been announced for the 76th GOODE Water Ski National Championships, Aug. 7-11, at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. To view and download the towboat draw, click here (PDF). Malibu, MasterCraft and Nautique are the approved boat manufacturers. The towboat draw is conducted for slalom and jumping. Athletes have their choice among the three manufacturers for the tricks event.

Zero Off Announces New Software

Zero Off and the three-event towboat manufacturers will release the new Revision S (Rev S) software operating system beginning with 2019 model year boats, Rev S will enhance the existing SLALOM PLUS mode for skiers who want a more responsive pull.

AWSA Introduces Personal Best Stickers

Now within the My Stats feature of AWSA's mobile app, when a member achieves a personal best within the last 12 months, a yellow Personal Best banner appears. Clicking on the banner creates an email requesting one of these new Personal Best stickers, which we hope people will collect and display proudly as a symbol of their recent achievements. Up and coming skiers may collect several of them, and who knows, they might become coveted like the reward or pride decals on the back of high school and college football helmets.

Jaquess, Travers Win Lake 38 Pro Am Titles

U.S. water ski athletes Regina Jaquess (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) and Jon Travers (Groveland, Fla.) won the professional women’s and men’s slalom titles, respectively, on Sunday at the Lake 38 Pro Am at Lake 38 in Quincy, Fla. The tournament included cash prizes for the men’s and women’s professionals and trophies for amateurs. Some of the world's top professional slalom skiers competed in the tournament.

America's Cup Invitational Set For Aug. 10

The Mystic Lakes Ski Club and the American Water Ski Association are pleased to announce that the inaugural America’s Cup Invitational will be held on Friday, Aug. 10 at the Mystic Lakes Ski Club in Maize, Kan. The event will feature U.S. athletes competing in men’s and women’s slalom, tricks and jumping with a total cash-prize purse of $40,000.

Junior U.S. Open Field Of Competitors Set

The field of competitors for the 2018 Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships has been announced. The 18th Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships, a two-round world record capability water ski competition, will be held June 23-24 at Ski Chaste Lake in Axis, Ala. The event, hosted by the Ski Chaste Water Ski Club, will feature Junior Men and Junior Women divisions (ages 17 to 21), in addition to Boys and Girls divisions (ages 16 and under). Nearly 50 of the world's top junior water ski athletes are expected to compete for titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.
